Monday, August 24, 2009 DigiNotar trusted standard in Adobe
|
Adobe has launched an Approved Trust Program List that automatically trusts certificate authorities. All the DigiNotar certificates now appear automatically trusted in Adobe programs, including the popular Adobe Reader.
On Friday, July 17, Adobe has launched a new website for the "Approved List Trust Program”. Here all trusted parties like DigiNotar are included as certificate suppliers. From Adobe Version 9 all certificates issued by DigiNotar are automatically trusted. For users of older versions of Adobe programs there are instructions on this website on how to standard trust certificate providers. The website also offers some examples of signed documents, including our English-language brochure.
Adobe Aproved Trust List (AATL)
Adobe PDF Reader is the most used PDF program worldwide. Many digitally signed PDF documents are being opened in Adobe Reader. Important for this type of document is the reliability of the digital signature. With AATL Adobe gives certificate authorities the opportunity to show off their reliability. Once a certificate authority meets the technical requirements of the AATL program, this organization is added to the trusted list.
Benefits
The inclusion in the AATL program offers users of DigiNotar certificates a clear benefit, they don’t have to take any action anymore in order to ensure a signature is trusted. Moreover, the prior performance audit by Adobe guarantees a certificate authority meets all the requirements. We are very pleased with this collaboration.
